Buying my dream home before it was even built

This Thakeham resident bought one of our 3 bedroom homes off plan at our preview launch of Knights Park, Godstone – and she’s never looked back!

Finding a home that ticked all the boxes

Having lived in my north facing flat for 27 years and wanting to move house for quite some time, I had a long list of what was important to me in a new home – most importantly I wanted south facing outside space, in a location I was familiar with and with easy access to towns and London.

I came across Knights Park at an early stage of construction when driving through Godstone, and liked both the appeal of a small development and style of the new homes when I got home and looked on Thakeham’s website.

I registered my interest then thought nothing more of it, until later in the year when I received an invitation to attend an Off Plan Preview Event for Knights Park. Excited to find out more, I booked my appointment.

Quality and Character

At the Preview event on a nearby Thakeham development, it was clear to see the pride in their product. I loved the atmosphere, the character and the architecture demonstrated in the homes, and the helpful team. I had a personal appointment and was given enough time to really take everything in.

The Pagham was the perfect layout for me, and looking at the site plan for Knights Park, I knew exactly which home would suit me. I wanted a kitchen that was big enough for a table and a living room filled with light and access to the garden. Filled with confidence, I found myself seriously considering a new Thakeham home, even without it being built!

The Sales Team were extremely helpful and really understanding of the magnitude of buying off-plan. I was shown detailed plans and information on fixtures and fittings to help me visualise my new home, which gave me the confidence to feel this was the right decision for me. The week after the Preview I reserved my preferred plot and I’ve never looked back.

Excellent Service

Throughout the process, Thakeham’s service has been excellent – it almost felt as if I was just sitting back and letting them do all the hard work! The level of contact and communication has been exceptional and always very pleasant. Once I’d committed to the property, I could gain access to the development site at various stages of the build so I could see my new home coming together.

It’s been a smooth journey – Thakeham’s attention to detail in both the site and my individual home gave me confidence throughout, and although my expectations were high, my new home is just perfect.  The layout, build and finish is exactly as I’d imagined and the homes being finished around me are exactly as the site plan had suggested, to every detail.

A friendly team

Admittedly I had some reservations about buying new – of living in my new home before completion of the entire site; but all the site staff have been exceptionally friendly and respectful. Now it’s quietening down, I almost feel I will miss them!

I’m settling in well and I’ve met several of my new neighbours. I’m especially enjoying my landscaped garden and still take immense delight in the beautiful outlook! My front garden was wonderfully finished by Thakeham and everyone who’s visited has said how beautifully both my home and the development is presented. They have been delighted by how much space we have and I think the mature trees and green space complete the development perfectly. It’s a lovely little development and I’m proud to live here.

Meant to be

My advice to those considering buying off-plan is to do plenty of research and if it feels right, to take the plunge – I’m so glad I was brave and went with my instincts! My new Thakeham home is all that I wanted it to be and more, and perhaps it was fate that led to finding my dream home at Knights Park, Godstone.
